I see. I think that normal people don't look through the protocol lense at all. For them Bluesky is a social media website. Same with Mastodon where you're kind of forced to know the protocol intricacies to an extent and choose instance etc. And that's why it fails to land. I have no idea how normal people see Nowtr as it's too much of a niche
Discussion
Normal people have never heard of nostr. 80% of Bitcointwitter probably know of nostr. 0.001% of the rest of Twitter won't have even heard of it.
I got that a bit muddled but you get what I mean lol
I heard about it a long time ago but I skipped that. Then they told me about it again on Signal Bitcoin group and I got attracted with the idea of signing with a key instead of a traditional login. And I wanted to try that
I found out about Nostr from r/Reddit_Alternatives lol
I've only ever used Reddit like once in my life lol
What a combination of circumstances
I was already on what some might consider to be a Reddit alternative. I figured that a Reddit alternative and a Reddit alternative alternative probably weren't too different from eachother, so I checked a few out.
The last website I was on was better than every web platform I've tried except for in one way: Admin didn't let his users talk with pedophiles. So I decided to switch to an otherwise far inferior platform where administrators can't decide who is allowed to talk with eachother.
