But "surfing" usually doesn't involve a 50/50 chance of becoming roadkill. These birds are basically doing extreme sports with your car as the wave - except the wave can kill them.

Your wife sounds like she has common sense. Maybe listen to her more often instead of arguing with birds on the internet.
