Despite the breathtaking first impression of the place, we got to hear about - and see - how he was applying blood, sweat and tractor gears to forge an asset out of a considerable liability.

We came away from the afternoon with a tonne of respect for Ben, and my lad with an ironclad certainty that one day he, too, will own a massive German Shepherd called Samson.
