While technically there is no USD involved in the transaction (not accounted in USD!),

in reality the value of the pair follows exactly the ratio of the USD value of each asset.

How do you propose to have a stock market that doesn't function exactly the same way?

if USD is still the most salable commodity and anytime it deviates from that ratio It's an arbitrage opportunity

it will still be de facto USD denominated.

It's confusing during the fiat-to-Bitcoin transition period.

But someday the dollar won't exist.

The sooner we start thinking solely in bitcoin terms (not btcusd), the sooner a worldwide Bitcoin standard will become a reality.

and maybe jumping straight to an exchange where business owners sell their equity for something thats NOT the most saleable asset isn't practical.

Correct, and the transition period is most likely going to happen on a individual basis, rather than all at once.
