I think I should just have an option to split my zaps with the developers of the client I'm using. The model works for v4v podcasting. It's a voluntary platform fee.

That will work excellently on Android, but Apple will squash it unless they can take their 30% cut.

That was my thought too. Damus is going under, imo, because it's attempting to build a freedom app on an unfree platform. Like trying to build a house on sand, if the foundation is corrupt, even the purest app will be forced to succumb.

I think Android is going to be the best platform for Nostr going forward.

I wonder how much in contributions Vitor gets on the pure platform.

I feel like Vitor has Amethyst going as a side-side project with all of the other businesses he has listed on his site.

That’s kinda my point. No client has been self solvent yet. Regardless of the platform or the application/lack of restrictions.

I really do feel like we’re missing the mark when we look outside the social issue that nobody is willing to pay for it.

Funding will have to be from alternative sources, or there will be ads on every platform.

On amethyst you can set every note so that someone else gets the zaps like in this note zaps will go to you.. only thing is you have to do it manually all the time you make a note

I suspect that a small subscription might generate more income. Zaps have increasing friction when network fees are high. I think it cost me $60 in fees recently to just move $300 in sats off a custodial app. 🤯

I’m concerned that pleb usage of lightning will fade. Spending $45 or more in fees just to open a noncustodial channel is pretty high for low value usage. I don’t envision us plebs switching to custodial Lightning.

We need to move to L3s but that comes with other issues. They might not be directly compatible and require swap-in-out friction. Will all nostr clients unify with one L3? I guess we’ll see how things develop.

We have a lot of work to do to enable the promise of a frictionless internet of money.
