Any software version, but only the first revision of the hardware are easily exploited, later versions are patched and require a mod chip. The og version has a handy buffer overflow in the recovery mode that lets you boot unsigned code.

Yes perfect, I have the very first version. I'll have to look into it. It's been a while since I hacked a console!! 🤝👍

Nice! If you have any questions feel free to DM me. gbatemp.net is your friend.

Yesterday I was wondering if I should get an OLED version.

Tonight I'm one click away from buying an RCM loader! 😅

I still have a question though. You were telling me about your dual boot. Does that mean there is a way to have the homebrew untethered? Because I haven't seen anything about that yet... 🤔

And if that's the case, I guess I don't need any RCM loader...

You still need the loader, not a cold boot solution yet. That being said you can just run a payload server on your PC or phone too, rather than buying any hardware.

It does make things easier though 😂

Clearly! I'm definitely gonna order one, on the move it will be the perfect fit! 😁

Thanks for the tips and links, I'm fired up right now! 🔥🔥😁

🫨 Thank you! Obviously if you have any questions going forward let me know! 🙏🫂💜

Will do! Thanks! 🤝🤙

Maybe sure to make an emunand (a copy of the system nand duplicated to the SD card, and used for running the modded os), then you can dual boot between modded and retail, the best of both worlds!

🤯🤯🤯

So I can still use online features on the retail side???

Yes!

Ok I really need to dive into it!!

Have you ever had issues of any kind?

Running games that needed a more recent firmware for example? Or anything else?

The dev team behind the cfw, Atmosphere, are really fast. Usually a day or two after updates drop, no worries there. I've been running my current emunand for about 5 years without issues, it is pretty stable!
