Anyone have recommendations for a fitness/step counter for ppl who don’t have phones? Ie my son and my dad. Is Fitbit still the way to go? #asknostr

Garmin for me

Thanks! any particular one?

More of a style/usage/cost question, if they run get a forerunner/fenix, more of a lifestyle watch for tracking steps and heart rate maybe a Venu or vivoactive.

Just look at the Garmin site to see what you think might suit them :)

Thank you!

+1 on a simple Garmin Vivoactive or something similar. Actually, I think Garmin might make a kids one too 🤔

Amazing thanks! Do they have a version for grandpas too? :)

Haha, I think probably the Vivosmart is pretty good!

Don't have one of these specifically but I love my Garmin watch and the app. Great stuff 👍

Fitbit has been folded into Google and is dying

Garmin makes one for kids and also all the way from very simple to very sophisticated

Apple Watch works only with Apple phone.

Might be good to investigate this, The Market for Open Source Health Tracking Hardware is slim to Non-existent.

I'm not sure if it's still purchasable.

Oh interesting! Thank you!

I got a Garmin this winter and love it: https://www.garmin.com/en-US/

which one did you get and why?

Ive been loyal fitbit user ChargeHR but dont like proprietary stuff and especially google now. Also lacking some things im realizing now.

Ive been skeptical about Garmin but open minded.... kindof bulky, thats why i liked Fitbit because I can still wear it under a blazer....

I can’t recall but it’s great! I just got whichever one the running store was selling

can you take a picture of it?

Casio ABL100.

Is this real? Lol so cool

It is real.

Unfortunately, without a artphone, you will be re-adjusting the time a handful of times per year.

I have used a Fitbit Charge in the past, it is cheap and does this job perfectly.

I spent a lot of time trying to find a fitness watch that didn't use bluetooth or wifi because I don't want to be irradiated. The only quality one I found (that also tracked sleep) was a Garmin Vivo Smart. It does have blue tooth, but allows you take turn it off and synchronize with your computer through a cable if you want. If all you want is a step counter, there are a couple out there that are very cheap, but I can't say how accurate they are.

I think I’m convinced on the vivo smart thanks!
