Well it's like this. All the replies are flattened in one list, but each one has a "Reply to" hint that you can click and it goes to the parent. But you gotta look and kinda remember the course of the conversation to find your place.

Oh boy
I remember once in my notebook trying to come up with a thread view that you could scroll through and still see what's a reply to what. Like on Reddit, but even better. I should make a little demo of it.
Good idea. I like the way amethyst and Damus (iOS) do it. Best ones I’ve seen so far
If Amethyst had a collapse button it would be almost perfect. Without one it fails when threads break into seperate branches, figuring out who a reply is to can be confusing. That's a downfall of the way it works currently.
Damus does the collapsing perfectly. The threads is hands down one of its best features
Crazy how we’ve been at this for three years and there is only one or two clients that have solved threads.
Definitely. Sometimes I forget how early we are 🤯
I ran into issues like this while attempting to build my own lite browser extension client. I realized how complex it was, so I took the easy way out and just linked out to Jumble after the first reply level. 😏
Yeah Damus is good but it has one thing that really annoys me—when I am like 4 layers deep into a thread then swipe back… I expect to see the last focused view of the thread but it takes me back to the feed and loses my spot. Maybe some people like that but I always accidentally do it and then am frustrated that I lost my place in the thread. Primal in my experience preserves the UX that I’m used to from twitter.
But has anyone made a successful hackernews/reddit style thread view? That’s the best way to view threads imho.
Preach!! 🙌🙌
I hate that. Also, when I click into a quoted post without first selecting the post I'm seeing it inside of, and I go back out into some other part of my timeline
primal is way too slow
you dont get notified in a thread with more than 2 people. Makes it useless for big threads
Jumble.social on desktop seems like the closest thing to the Reddit view. Damus also has this bug where your place on the note when you are typing will randomly throw you to the bottom of the note. Idk why but it’s really annoying.
Never used jumble. Will check it out. Thanks!
Welcome to the jumble
