from a Russian perspective, the cold war never ended. Russia uses all means at its disposal to conduct cyber espionage, disinformation campaigns and to interfere with the democratic process. they will continue to do this and why wouldnt they? the US operates the same way towards the Russian state.
The Chinese leadership is the far more insidious actor here.
the CCP has been conducting their model of Unrestriced Warfare against the US and the West for decades. from forced technology transfer (FTT) and industrial espionage, to lawfare, Fentanyl manufacturing / importation, and cyber warfare.
regardless of the historical failings on the part of the US and the West, the CCP is by far the most significant adversary and the US must respond when a foreign nation threatens their citizens health, their economy, and national security.
