I was actually thinking about this yesterday. It's like Monero, we don't use Monero because what we are doing is super secret. we use it because what we are doing is nobody's business.

I can say whatever the hell I want on nostr, and nobody can do anything about it. That's why I use it. But I never say anything that would get me thrown in a gulag, not because I'm watching what I say, but because I genuinely dont feel like saying anything like that, it just doesnt cross my mind to. The mental load that people live under where they have to watch what they say, the performative aspect, that's just not there for me, it's freeing. That's why I use nostr, and not particularly because I have something potentially illegal to say.
