Yeah, only old cars for me thanks. I'm in Canada but we're in a very remote area so any kind of ban on old cars would be next to impossible to enforce.

What if you were charged tax to own them? Tax dodgers get fined more or go to jail.
People pay for a license to hunt, or fish, or drive, etc
We already have a carbon tax. I imagine that will continue going higher. It might get limiting for sure.
We'll start to see more fuel theft.
It may actually become cheaper to have a horse and buggy for shorter trips. People would certainly stockpile on trips more.
If they taxed cars directly, there would be more black market action. That's already happening here I'm quite certain.
