I stand corrected. Excuse my assumptions.

I'm not going to go into a complete dissertation on the trade-offs of LN privacy.

in short, there are advantages to transacting on an L2. there's also additional complexity and it hasn't been battle tested yet.

nostr:npub1yxp7j36cfqws7yj0hkfu2mx25308u4zua6ud22zglxp98ayhh96s8c399s absurd assertions that shopstr and Robosats qualify as disruptive technologies that warrant investment in transaction tracing are obviously disingenuous.

The architecture of LN network lends itself to a hub and spoke model with large routing nodes which easily qualifies money transmitters and could collude to compromise transaction data.

blockchains are designed to function in the open. Which is an advantage to using an L1.

and then there's the UX hurdle for the great mass of people to use self custodial LN.

so even though good privacy is possible on LN (I use my Zeus wallet regularly and spin up nostr:npub1jluy3twvf338v6zlujzzdhjkzjy8ezj34ksydr8vw8a6jwp89ygshpp2kq l nodes to receive payments when necessary)

It's still "private because no one is looking"
