Thermal expansion, mostly.

Waiting for land-based ice to melt would require living centuries, maybe millenia.

But arctic sea-ice September minimums have been shrinking as expected, both reducing the local albedo and increasing local primary productivity.

so sea level rise is real ? they are saying Florida will sink a further foot in the next 30 years.

i want to move to Florida most Florida elevations are already like 10 feet above water and they get up to 20 foot storm surge from Hurricanes ...

although 1 more foot over next 30 years won't make that much difference the bigger issue is if the rise in sea levels is real and people start to believe that it is happening ( i don't think anybody believes it now ) then it may cool investment into Florida causing it to go the way of Detroit ...

Move to Florida, invest in local civil engineering firms, and celebrate moral hazard.

It will flood, slightly more than previously, and other people's taxes will be conjured to pay part of the costs.

haha yeah it is amazing how people build in flood zones then complain the government isn't using more taxpayer money to bail them out after a flood so they can rebuild in the same spot and get flooded again ...

we need to teach AI how to recognize this type of externalizing personality that fucks everything up then blames everybody else and have them all euthanized.

I like this plan as long as I'm the only one training the AI.

I could see that happening to Florida but probably not in the very near term, so if your plan is to go there to enjoy the rest of your life, given your age, it's probably safe.

i know you're a software engineer, not a PR specialist but you really need to work on your manners LOL

you don't just call somebody old like this.

only i can call nostr:npub1494rtg3ygq4cqawymgs0q3mcj6hucvu4kmadv03s5ey2sg32df5shtzmp0 that !

Diss, we all know you're GenX. Boomers but with tiny homes.

Move to FL already.

Buy a yacht and live in a marina if you're worried about the water. Then we can visit, and your geriatric ass can take selfies with our hot female friends.

How about you disregard what everybody says & go look with some actual century old photos.

I'll bet you don't see it...

The best way to stop efforts to baffle with bullshit is to call everyone on it & go test.

Just FYI, avoid the spots they pick because they tend to be seismically active. 😂

And it shouldn't need to be said but, don't pick low places hit by tsunamis either...

Yes, and as I recall that shipping through the arctic regions of North America has gotten more accessible in recent years as well, so there must be some melting. Albeit it's not the cataclysm that it was made out to be as far as sea level rise, although it may continue to that point over time but it will be well after we're dead.

Not centuries. It's alreafy happening in Greenland and woulf naturally accelerate the more the planet warms.

Truth, but centuries before any ice cap disappears.

The Thwaites Glacier likely to make a splash on its own when the present grounding line fails.
