I have an electron microscope in my lab that can also measure soft X-rays as a by-product of the electron absorption - this is useful for elemental mapping (called Energy Dispersive X-Rays). Here's an image I took for fun - I mixed table salt (NaCl) with no-sodium salt (KCl). The red is the sodium salt, the green is the potassium salt.
