people want nostr to be "twitter without the censorship" without understanding that the very architecture that enables censorship resistance changes the delivery guarantees.
multicast is more resilient than broadcast because you can propagate information without requiring guaranteed delivery to every node.
decide what matters more to you, perfect delivery or censorship resistance.
Perfect delivery to the communities I target.
That's what matters to me.
Blasting into the void to maybe reach people = the absolute worst value prop.
Except for the very few big players in said void, of course.
Just the right balance of bold and achievable.
Really interesting, I think that in many ways this makes Nostr more like real human communities, in the sense that there's a "local" aspect to information propagation.
What's important to someone living in Los Angeles isn't going to be the same as what's important to someone living in Buenos Aires. Different information is going to propagate "naturally" because the concerns of people in different places are different.
You get it. It's a more human-scaled approach to information that mirrors how we naturally process the world around us.
And I sincerely believe this could have positive mental effects for people online as you will spend less of your attention on the irrelevant, shocking, and violent information that instinctively draws our attention yet serves no purpose.
Such a good point. The Nostr rabbit hole goes deep. I haven't spent nearly as much time in here compared to btc, but it's definitely fascinating.
Agreed. The idea of becoming more local has entered people's minds and we see it from people wanting local food and being willing to pay more for it. Next step is the realization that information is food for the mind. I expect it to have a strong effect on overall health once less trash food enters our minds.
