I think there's a NIP. I think it searches for any reference to the note through all relays and attempts to delete them from any relay it appears on.

I'm a fan of delete and edit. If you care so much about what someone else says to need it in the future, then save it. People should have the right to curate their own notes. Opinions change, people make mistakes.

I think there are multiple forms of deletion. One is client enforced where the client will just hide if there is an event saying so.

The other proposal I think would have to be relay enforced so potentially it could be on a relay that doesn’t enforce that NIP.

I agree that opinions change and at the same time we can own those past opinions.

Typos are annoying though…

Yes, mostly I hate typos... Lol

I agree, we should be open about wrong opinions we held in the past. Being able to admit when you're wrong is half the battle.
