nostr:npub1vz03sm9qy0t93s87qx2hq3e0t9t9ezlpmstrk92pltyajz4yazhshfttwj Hey! I listed to your podcast and put my iPhone in locked down mode. I’m not sure if is a coincidence or not, but I’ve observed the following activity since:

- Several Gmail account recovery notifications. 3/4 a day, usually in quick succession, for a week. I’ve monitored my Gmail logins and there is nothing out of the ordinary. I also have Authenticator set up.

- 2 calls from “myself”

- 3 instances “Locked down mode blocked [contact] from contacting you”. I reached out to one of the contacts and he said he did not reach out.

- One sketchy email that actually ended up in my Inbox, an usual occurrence

Do you have any advice for what to do next? I assume this out of the ordinary. It is possible that my email/phone/name have leaked about being associated with bitcoin for the last few years, but I’m more of a pleb. At the same time I’m wondering if I need to contact a professional for help or change my phone/email.

that seems pretty creepy.

what other devices are you logged on to with that account?

I have an iPhone and 2 macs. Since they are trying Gmail account recovery I assume they know my email. Since they called me I assume they know my phone number. I don’t think they’ve been able to gain access to Gmail and iCloud but it’s hard to tell.

Google authenticator?

Yup I do use that! My assessment is I have a strong setup for my main accounts- strong passwords and mfa. I guess I’m trying to determine the level and intentions of the hacker or scammer. Is it just a cast a wide net type of thing? It seems a bit more targeted and persistent, to the point where I am legitimately worried.

I see.

good luck. I hope you figure it out.

be careful.

Thank you
