What does he mean by at the protocol level?
He must be high :-) or may be he wants to tell the world that #bitcoin is actually a public network .. a counter privacy narrative because people in suits go around telling btc is used by criminals .. that would make sense cuz Snowden is super intelligent 🤓

In contrast, Monero is privacy on a protocol level by default, meaning it doesn't matter which wallet you use, you get the same privacy guarantees, it's built in.
Why ? Does Snowden know more than Satoshi !
Bitcoin must be public ledger because it is meant to be used by large corporations and nation states ..for transacting billions .. the high fees will make it impossible for private people ..
Lightning is for buying coffee .. or Fedimint is to run your private Village .. those are the constructs that you worry of privacy .. not the base layer ..
In fact , you want absolute visibility and public accountability on the base layer ..
