Just manually weeded out a bunch of deleted profiles I’d been following and removed over 100 inactive users who hadn’t posted anything in over a month to get my follow count back under 2000.

Definitely noticing better performance on #[0] now, especially with tagging users. I recommend everyone clean up their zombie follows on a regular basis. Hope to see some automated tools that can help with this.

I gotta do this..

Good idea!

Always good to cull how many people you follow. I probably keep TOO on top of it, but I also would rather only follow people who consistently post what I consider to be quality content

Admittedly, I went a little crazy with the follow button when I first started here in December…

Worse things to go hog wild on than a follow button 🥰 Worst case is always unfollow+ block 🤭

I’m not noticing any issues yet but my follow count is not that high. Glad to see I made the cut 🤙🏻

My criteria are simple:

You have a nonzero number of followers

You’ve posted something in the last month

I don’t see any racist posts

Yes I’m with you. I think NOSTR is a lot friendlier than the bird app for sure. I’m not aware of seeing anything raciest on here…other than that Nest I keep seeing pop up. It looks a little racist and honestly I’m scared to go on to see what’s really being discussed. I’m sure you’ve seen it. 🤙🏻🫂

Yup.

I kind of like having legacy Luigi and Lyle before they got their coolkid keys 😂

Did I get removed? 😜

Nope, you're good #[3] 🤙

Great idea! I should do a little spring cleaning 🧹🧹🧹

I’m doing that exact same thing 🫤

Interesting that how many you follow regardless of activity affects performance? I'm only following a few hundred but on desktop with primal or snort it takes forever to load.

Relays store and provide your follow list and it’s caused me some frustrating performance issues. For a while I couldn’t use filter.nostr.wine because my graph was exceeding the preset websocket data limit. Took me and nostr:npub18kzz4lkdtc5n729kvfunxuz287uvu9f64ywhjz43ra482t2y5sks0mx5sz a while to figure that out.

That's a definite limit then on Nostr. How will it work with you follow thousands or tens of thousands? Guess I need to be more careful on who I follow? 🤷🏼‍♂️

It’s just a reminder that we’re early and more optimization is needed to help clients and relays interact more smoothly.
