Jack's phone is "special ". As in, that he does not fit in with anyone. Meaning, he is the only one who gets to do anything with himself because it's his phone. "They cant", as Jack says, because it's his day, it's his time, it's his focus. Are you seeing why "they cant". He doesn't like to share anything because he's special needs and hides it from everyone to look like he isn't. That's why all he has is his phone. He has no real connection with anyone beyond what his phone offers him. Hence being a special kind of a loser.
