He is not a very controversial person. Very normal guy. He was the leader of an emerging format which exploded after 2019-2020 and legacy media hates him for stealing their audience and saying the normal things which they won't.

He's just a host. He's a very good host, but people don't listen for his stories or opinions. Most people listen for the guests. I tune in occasionally when I like the guest. Duncan Trussell is a great one.
