Hmm I wonder if I should look into a proper podcasting app to use. What do people use?

Seems like the only reason to use Fountain is for the earning sats function, but that function seems to only be for bitcoin podcasts. So if you're not listening to bitcoin podcasts you may as well use a non-janky podcast app...?

Antennapod is solid. It's just a podcasting app and it works wonderfully.

Antennapod is your answer.

But I use fountain to stream sats. I don't care about earning them.

What does that involve? 🤔

You install antennapod and add your podcasts to it.

I'm so confused. What's 'streaming sats'?

That's in fountain. When you add sats to the wallet in the app, you can set an amount to send to the podcaster per minute you spend listening. So you can send say 20 sats per minute. Over an hour, you'll have streamed 1200 sats over 60 payments.

Ah I see. But this would mean the podcaster has a lightning wallet, which will be quite rare. I assume it wouldn't let you do this if they didn't have a wallet(? Othereise who are you sending it to lol?)

Yes, so when you host the podcast on something like Podhome, it supports adding a lightning address to the podcast's RSS feed. And that lets you actually do the whole sat streaming thing in Fountain.

So for every other podcast in existence, antennapod is the better app 😅

Ah I see it now, 'support', like 'earn' would show as active buttons. It's not for any of the podcasts I follow, so I shouldn't use Fountain. I should use this good one lol:)

Jonathan Pageau's symbolic world podcast was the most likely to have this enabled, but that also doesn't. I do like how fountain tells you to pester the podcast host about this tho lol. Not that I'll be doing that.

Never been heard of this. But seems to be the one so far.

Another AntennaPod endorsement. It just works. I found Fountain to be extremely janky. I wanted to like it, and tried many times, but it just isn't as easy to use as AntennaPod.

This antennapod thing must be really good, it's unanimously endorsed!

I've used it for a while, and it might just be that I expect a podcast app to function like AntennaPod because I'm used to it, but it just works. The whole sat streaming thing is cool with Fountain, but its not enough to make up for the UI

The support/earn function is very cool. But currently wouldn't be in usage for 99% of podcasts in the world.

AntennaPod all day
