There is a vast, vast chasm between people who have Twitter followings for what they’ve done IRL vs people whose only accomplishment is growing a following on Twitter.

IRL the former are larger than life

The latter don’t quite live up to what their Twitter persona suggests

Important to not confuse the effect and the cause.

ever meet someone with more than 100k followers? They’re typically egoic assholes

I’m not sure if follower count is the real indicator. I think there are people who are genuinely very full, interesting people with a following as a byproduct. Then there are people who push the algorithm buttons to look like the former. Whoever you meet you learn who they are pretty quickly.
