#Trump is saying that #Brazil had massive gun control that they needed to roll back after homicides spiked…I wonder if this is true.

It's true everywhere.
Brazil had a public referendum to decide if the nation would implement a disarmament policy back in 2005. More than 95 million people voted, and the vast majority voted to keep their guns and their right to have a gun. Against the public wishes, the left government that was in power back in the day (and now has returned against people wishes, using the corrupted judges to do so) implemented a strict policy to own guns in Brazil. They seized and destroyed many guns at the time. When the right elected a president in 2018, this strict gun regulations began to be a little better and some people could buy guns. But to to so, a series of requirements had to be met, the Federal Police had to agree, the Army had to give a green light, psychiatric tests had to be made, and many more, so a good citizen could own a gun. During this gun ban since 2005 and 2018, all criminals kept their guns, of course, and got a lot more. We are talking about bazookas to destroy policy helicopters for example. Many AK-47, riffles, and so on. And the the good citzens could do nothing to defend themselves against rising crime, cause they got their right to own a gun ripped off by the left government. So yeah, Brazil is in the hands of many powerful criminals, in all instances of government which is aligned with drug cartels and criminal activities. The last elections, the majority of criminals in the prisons all over the country followed what they were told to to by the cartels and voted for the left government to return, so many of their leaders who were behind bars could return to soft prisons and regain control of many illegal activities. This politicians will never allow us to have guns again, and are doing everything they can to shut us up, regulating the internet, sending people who talk about the judges or are against the government to prisons, without any chance of defense, trials, or anything described by the law. So yeah, we are fucked. In Equador, there was a huge spike of crime, but there the government is in the right wing, and added a law that allowed citzens to buy and register guns to defend themselves. Here in Brazil we are having the opposite, right now.
