I wanted to share a project I've been working on in my spare time: https://relay.guide

The goal is to help people discover relays to join. Right now it can help find relays by:

1. Paid / free

2. Name or keyword (weedstr, damus, etc)

3. By the recommended relays of people you follow or like. (https://relay.guide/relay-lists)

You can also look at each relay's metadata. I also added a tool that may be useful to devs to be able to query the events on that relay by kind or author pubkey, etc (https://relay.guide/inspector)

I tried to make it easy to copy relay info so you can update your relays if you find an interesting relay through this.

It's similar to nostr.watch but I'm hoping to add some novel capabilities soon:

1. Discovering relays by the relay lists of others

2. Discover by relay community preferences and/or language tags (most don't publish this yet, but I'm going to reach out to folks and advocate for it)

3. Add the ability to manage your relay list from this app (auth with Alby or similar and add / remove relays right from the discovery tools)

The code is open source so feel free to log issues or make suggestions or contribute! https://github.com/gregorygmwhite/nostr-relay-explorer

When I was starting on #nostr there was this small enterpreneur who was trying to advertise their merch to people directly on here 5-6 months ago. They shared their frustration about how to do so effectively, and since it was about expiring food items I suggested back then to them to use nostr.watch and connect to more local to their location relays and there may be a better success with advertising to people who use those and actually purchase (ln bits was still in beta).

#zapvertisement may work to some extent globally, however a future list of relays that support or direct to specific (local or not) communities and marketplaces(nip15) maybe something a lot of people including me may like to see.

A list of relays that support marketplaces would be great both for merchants and customers and would be good to see such a relay-list when gets there, so this project has potential πŸ€™

That’s a really good point. I do parse out NIP support that each relay advertises. I could add a specific tag or filter allows folks to find relays that support the marketplace NIP(s)

Yes that would be great, visible to people and easy to direct them to the supported marketplaces by helping listing the respective relays in the clients.

I also hope to see a comprehensive list of relays of what they advertise as spam filters. It took a random post of a relay owner for me to get their policies based either on repetitive messages, npubs or IPs. It is up to the relays to do so and naturally people would like to know how's that being handled so if there is a way to include that in the relay info, it's def a point of interest.

You make greats points! Taking notes πŸ“
