#NostrDevs, I was just talking to nostr:npub1xqvdhwwd2qrgj7p4mwclgvx4lfrrkkaam5e3nqxcr3ruzqulqruqndz8a7 and she gave some good feedback. She told me if we had #Stories (only 24hours) like on Instagram or #Reels (Short 1 min videos that you can scroll) like on Instagram, Snapchat, TickTock… that it would make it easier to post & would encourage girls as well as younger people to migrate here + post more here more, because there is nothing to think about in terms of what to write. It’s just day to day, moment to moment life as is and in easy to digest blips (short attention span).

I think she is right, because even telegram and WhatsApp added stories, so there is obviously something there.

Is this something you guys have thought of or are you guys already working on this?

I'm... Not in that target market. I don't understand stories. At all. On any platform. I don't see how it's different than just posting and anyone that follows you will see it if they are scrolling, since there is no algorithm here. That stuff works when someone else curated the feed and they need to artificially create division in content to generate revenue.

Also, more video exponentially raises relay costs, and that is a concern. I don't think it is fair to not cover the costs of video (or even photo) data, at least in the long term. This will need to be addressed for sustainability.

I suppose if you want to add stories the solution here would be encouraging to self host relays with video hosting.

Is there no way for posts to time out? Because who needs to see your morning coffee in 4 years from now 🤷‍♀️

But there is comfort in just tapping through videos vs scrolling to see a video, then scrolling more through all their texts from that day, and scrolling more to then see the video they posted earlier in the day.

So just a few photos or videos of the day and then they can go away.

Also I like the idea of videos / photos that stay, but in an album, because if I want to have an album of only 🐝 #Bees and then an album of all my travels it would be cool to just allow someone to see all of that category in just a few clicks because they will never scroll through my feed to a photo of a bee I posted 8 months ago.

Those are interesting points. Once the relay is in the phone... Self-hosting might be easier since it's your network and storage that's being used. I suppose, first, one would need a server of some sort, like a media server, which already exists, but gosh that's way over my head.
