One good thing about brewing is that it might take half a day of your time, but then you're done for a while.
If you start brewing your mead in the morning, you won't be able to add the yeast until the night or even the next morning depending on the temperature. Once you add the yeast, you have several days before you need to do anything else. After you put it on secondary, about a week or two of not touching it...
You can definitely do it while taking on to new things that are more time consuming. And before you realize, you'll be able tocelebrated finishing those other things with some nice homebrewed mead.
