On second look the annotation and Lilypond seem slightly different maybe? I'm not sure I know enought about this 🤔

Hmm seems to be an old project and incomplete 🤔

I was able to get an llm to convert https://www.mutopiaproject.org/cgibin/piece-info.cgi?id=2247 into something that is supported by the converter, copied the output and its playable in alexandria 🤔

It seems that lilipond is much more comprehensive, aiming to be something for professional music engraving. Abc notation (and the tool abcjs I'm using) is meant to be interactive, and works in the browser with playback.

Converting from pdf would be amazing, but that's much more comprehensive than I can do. We can at least get the basics running, though.

I asked Grok lol, so not sure how accurate this is:

Having a dig around and I fear I M totally out of my depth lol

But just in case you understand:

https://trillian.mit.edu/~jc/music/abc/

Scroll down to 'indexes of ABC tunes', lots are dead links.

Some still work tho:

And I assume you know this:

https://abcnotation.com/tunes

Not sure how to tell what is public domain from this, I think it has to be arrangements that predate 1929 or something? I don't know.

Some cool collections (this one seems to have a creative commons 1 'universal' licence)

Last post on this lol, I promise. I was looking at some of the collections and links.

There's this cool website that seems to be still active which is discussion board for sharing Irish folk songs, lots in ABCnotation. This would be a very cool sort of community to onboard to alexandria

So, there's a lot we can work with then 😎

Just uploaded ~70 Jigs (if they all published) from The Nottingham Music Database.

Seems like there is an active community around especially folk tunes ABCnotation. Very cool.
