90% crop loss in the Okanagan Valley is expected this year. Our Vineyard in Kaleden is looking like the lucky 10% that survived the winter.
This is likely due to its sloped aspect and proximity to the lake. The lake provides extra heat that keeps temps more consistent which protects from extreme highs/lows.
We are so fortunate. π
Surprised to hear this. I thought this winter was considered more mild than usual?

It was the cold snap we had in January that did the damage. Otherwise yea it was a mild winter.
That cold snap froze my houses water service right as it came out of my slab. luckily It was a Saturday morning and I thawed it before it did any damage.
Close call.
