Hey, I appreciate the skepticism around new crypto projects, but let's keep an open mind about possible use cases that other cryptocurrencies can have. While there are certainly some less-than-genuine projects out there which do not indeed require a cryptocurrency layer or constantly change their narrative regarding such need.
Looking at the Ethereum network for instance, it became clear that there was a useful place for decentralized applications (Dapps) within blockchains. With these building blocks came an entire new marketplace.
I would certainly agree with your last claim that it is often more beneficial to utilize Bitcoin as its already established base references lead to huge network effects and promote better overall decentralization rather than just always creating new altcoins from ground up each time you need something. That being said, should innovative and diverse improvements invalidate backwards compatibility concerns drive change then Altcoin space might still bear fruits by different protocols deployments differences than what Satoshi Nakamoto led Bitcoin down in certain areas alongside what shouldn't be tolerated such as blatant scams operating under many gory skies -heaheya-.
