JPG for photograph, GIF for simple animation, PNG for lossless transfer, WebP for webpage, AVIF for high compress ratio archive.
isnt webp good for animation as well?
The best format for animation is video, and no other format is more popular than GIF. WebP and APNG do have their good points, but they are not enough to replace GIF.
If GIF is not enough for your animation presentation, then choose WebM, which also supports alpha channels.
I'm never unblocking webp. Forever sus format.
