๐Ÿคฉ those are some beautiful welds!

Thank you. ๐Ÿ˜

Do you know much about welding?

Iโ€™m a MiG welder or wire feed ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿญ

Not a professional at all yet I enjoy doing it and they say I do a good job at it ha ha

Between helping my husband build a water well drilling rig from scratch and now working on building a power tower (to make our homestead self sustainable and say F U to PG&E) Iโ€™d say my most recent welds have been looking pretty professional and Iโ€™m feeling good about it ๐Ÿ˜

That's rad! All of it! (Especially getting to the point to tell your pet company to go scratch! I'm building it a solar system for my RV trailer that's also my home for much the same reason!)

Thank you, yes I think so too. My husband is the inventor Iโ€™m just his helper like in the movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang ๐Ÿ’ฅ ( the original one lol) ๐Ÿคช

Our tower will be a hybrid of wind and solar, so now Iโ€™m also learning about energy and electricity โšก๏ธ Tell me more about your solar system for your RV thatโ€™s awesome ๐Ÿ˜Ž

My RV isn't too big, but I scored a deal on 4 REC 405W panels. These are near top of the line! Right now, I've only got two mounted to the roof, but they've been incredible. In cool, sunny weather, I regularly get above the rates power coming in!

The panels are running into twin MPP Solar 3048LV-MKs, set up to run in split phase. They are charging one DIY 16 105Ah cell lifepo4 battery pack managed by a JKBMS. More storage will happen later this year. I'm in process of re-wiring the trailer for 240V so I can run a higher efficiency mini-split (the roof top AC is terribly inefficient!) to provide much better heating and cooling in the space and also being able to support BTC miners that I intend to use to provide radiant heat (imagine having a heated floor in an RV!!!) and possibly pre-heating hot water for washing and showering.

With more storage and the full 4 panel array, I can pretty easily cover all even with moderate heat and cooling loads via the battery and panels. After I move to my own property, I'll be able to build and utilize a wood gassifier to run a generator and charge the batteries if needed. I will eventually need more panels to cover power in the winter, but, that can come later.

This whole thing is going to be versatile, flexible, and pretty friggon' rad!

๐Ÿ˜Ž Incredible! Youโ€™ve done your homework, you know your stuff ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป

Once we get our 15000 watt combination wind solar monopole mounted energy system set up Iโ€™ll send you some pics, it should happen sometime this year. It will operate our home, water-well pump, all communications (currently on starlink) and a water distiller for a future of off-grid living.

I'm fascinated by the concept. I really do look forward to seeing what you come up with.

I learned a lot over the last ~6-8 months. Still have more to learn, but I'll get the chance to build out another system on my eventual tow vehicle (likely a used 17' uhaul box truck since I need more storage space and can use another clean roof to install more panels, plus space for one or two upright freezers...) with updated equipment that wasn't available even just a very few months ago.

You distill all your water? Are you re-mineralizing after?

The distilled water is for a different purpose (fuel cell related) that we can discuss later on if youโ€™re interested, our drinking water is well water that is ran through charcoal filters for everyday consumption.

Oh. Even more intriguing.

And yes. I am interested. ๐Ÿ˜

I do see! Iโ€™m a MiG welder or wire feed ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿญ
