Wanted to put together some ideas for how nostr relays can scale up and avoid centralisation for discussion. None of these are meant to be silver bullets rather the more of these that are tried, the stronger nostr will be.

A plebnet similar to #Nodestrich running a federation of relays for small groups.

A charity dropping nodes in to communities which spins up the infrastructure to join nostr.

Nostr radio stations where the relay is a paywall and content distribution in one.

Relay-as-a-Service where you buy it and a company spins it up for you.

Ad sponsored relays where users get free access in return for ads inserted in to feeds.

Apps to be your own relay for P2P notes.

Miners running relays as a side business.

A decentralised nostr “cloud” provider which provides relays, storage, compute, network, Lightning/bitcoin nodes etc.

Interested to hear any other ideas on this, there’s certainly more than this available to nostr!
