I hear you, it’s something I struggled with for my whole adult life. In the end it boils down to the fact that no matter what I write, it doesn’t matter.

The vast majority will absolutely never have a sudden epiphany, realize they’re actually retarded or admit they’re wrong.

They’ll ignore the credible points or evidence you present and maintain their terrible ideas with a combination of denial, delusion and never-ending logical fallacies.

For me it’s effectively a 100% waste of time. To each their own tho

Yeah I agree with all this. But I still think it’s worthwhile to try at least briefly because I needed that at some point. The problem is where to draw the line.

Harry Browne’s take on this is that you should only expend the necessary amount of effort that you’d hope someone else would expend trying to help you. And it didn’t take much to gain my interest on these topics. So I’m definitely doing too much even based on my own standards and what I’d expect for myself.

That assumes intellectual honesty. I’d say a large number of internet disagreements contain zero intellectual honesty from at least one party.
