I'm hopeful too. But let's see how nostr actually scales. I still don't see how relays will evolve when nostr gets big. Shall we see some kind of centralization as an oligarchy of aggregator relays?

I think you will see more automated connectivity and professional services that make it all look like magic

yes, but whenever I hear "magic", I imagine there are things happening under the hood that I don't know about. Who can then have any visibility on censorship?

There will always be tradeoffs but likely choices too. Doesn’t have to be one or the other same as we have with custodial and noncustodial bitcoin

I see more and better decentralization. Any controversial news website, personality, etc., can just run their own relay where they (or their organization) are also the only poster, but anyone can read. Whole websites and blogs and news outlets will get sucked in to nostr.

Readers can aggregate those feeds behind their own personal relays, so publicly you will only be connected to your own relay. Nobody will know who is reading what, or be able to stop you from getting the content you want, or stop them from making it. That will force it to go very decentralized, because I think there is a huge demand for many of the figures that have been "cancelled" the past few years, and there will always be more in the future.

interesting take 🖖

Nostr is a protocol, not a social media platform. Time will tell what will be built on top of it.
