According to the USA Constitution, Congress has “the power of the purse.”

However, the unelected Federal Reserve has the true power of the purse, rendering the three main branches of government largely irrelevant.

Congress also hasn’t declared a war since WWII, even though they are constitutionally required to, yet that hasn’t stop the many forever wars that followed.

The Federal Reserve Act established in 1913 gives the Fed its power and can be amended by congress.

Some board members are confirmed by elected senators.

The Fed is still ultimately accountable to the executive and legislative branches. I suspect less independence would be even worse than the current situation, with even more monetization of the debt to finance even more wars. If elected directly, we'd probably have an inflationary UBI by now. Fiat monetary policy is bad, but not because the Fed is "unelected".

It's still a bullshit shadow government and you know it.

But yeah, if we had those zeroes tossed at us, I'm sure it wouldn't be turned down.

I still think money is a construct which shouldn't exist. There are money valid forms of capital which aren't controlled like fiat is.

Agreed: government is bullshit

Not Agreed: Money shouldn't exist. Fiat? Bad. Sound money? Absolutely essential for civilization.
