It really doesn't make a difference. You can use a mobile subscription for only data and you will still need a [S]ubscriber [I]dentification [M]odule to make sure the subscriber has actually paid. And even if you didn't have a SIM card, or swapped in a new one every 5 minutes, your physical SIM card slot would have the same IMEI being shared with the mobile provider.

Though this information is all pretty much useless by itself. If you use HTTPS then your mobile provider can't see anything you do on the websites you visit. If you use a VPN then they can't see the websites you visit at all. All you are to them is a dot on a map. They won't even have your name if you don't explicitly give it to them when buying a phone and mobile plan from them.

Yes. I'm aware. But, esims are going to be the next means of controlling access and I'm not a fan of that at all.

You guys are looking for secrecy, not privacy. Look up the difference and pick your side wisely. I personally choose PRIVACY. 🥷😎☝️

I'd rather have more of both.

You didn't look at the definition 😔

Marc 4:22, trust me you don't want secrecy. At all... 😉

It's very simple.

- Secrecy involves protecting the secret at all cost because if it gets out, you'll suffer greatly.

- Privacy however, involves protecting yourself by layers of obfuscation, not the secret; well, because there's no secret! (In this case you may not necessarily fear to suffer, but you're selectively revealing your life)

From Duduckgo AI:

"Privacy is your right to have your own thoughts, feelings, and experiences that you may not feel compelled to share with anyone, including setting boundaries around accessibility. Secrecy, on the other hand, is the intentional act of hiding or withholding information from others due to consequential impacts, often driven by shame and fear."

Silent.link FTW!

I've seen Silent.Link before, but I wasn't able to find anything on the site about how the IMEI of one's device is handled. As I understand cellular connections, it's not possible to connect to the network without an IMEI, even with a fancy roaming service. From what I've seen, the main appeal of Silent.Link is hiding phone numbers for security purposes rather than secrecy. Please correct me if I'm wrong! I would love to be able to determine whether this is the case!
