Will he though? It's hard to believe in a "god" with no actual evidence. You can chase whatever you want without having to believe in a deity. You don't need permission from him to be happy.
Well in my personal understanding God is everything, that ever was and ever will be, forever, not more, not less, just everything. It's a definition. I don't have to believe in God, because everything exists and therefore God.
So since you are part of God, if God interferes with your plans, actually you are interfering with yourself.
