Renting a car for the uber rides via their app is total bullshit. 2 hours prior to pick up they canceled my reservation because no cars available and said to come back next week ð€¡

I booked via Uber driver app so I can go and work as a driver. They only offer Hertz and Avis.
Oh I gotcha. I never tried that but it sounds like when you book through the app, the car is good to go, whereas with an external 3rd-party (e.g. Turo) maybe not.
