What even is Deviant Art. I felt like I've known about it forever. What is it? What does it do? Who is it for?

Is it something to do with autism?

Another rabbit hole

Lol, it's just a place for people to share their art, which quickly became a marketplace for users to sell commissions.

The fact that it still pushes forward is rather impressive. I loved DA as a kid.

It's originally mainly for people who want to look at art. Just a place to browse publicly shared artwork. Back in the day it was great for discovering unique art because the internet was not nearly as saturated with digital artwork yet.

So it's like a big art gallery, but anyone can put something on the wall? o.O?

That's the idea, yup. Not sure what it's like these days though.

Furries?

There is so many fucking furries on this shit it's insane.

A place for artists and creators to post their work that's been around for over two decades.

Two decades. Man, that made me feel old af.

I remember a buddy of mine back in college posting his artwork there 😂 That was like 2001-ish. Time fucking flies.

Not authorized?

It's been around for a long time. I was posting digital art on there almost 20 years ago. I don't think my account even exists anymore. They've made a lot of changes over the years. One cool feature was that you could order prints of people's art. I don't know if it still works that way or not.

Cool man. I hope you don't mind me saying this, but I wouldn't have thought that you were an artist.

I used to be more creative when I was much younger. Made art. Played guitar and piano. I don't really do any of that anymore.

Fair play man! Try and make time for it, it's good to have a link to your past so you don't forget that part of yourself.

It's a social platform for artists, photographers, writers, etc. to post their work. It's been around forever. My sister started her career there by doing commissions for people.

Nowadays there are other places people post their art too like ArtStation and Pixiv.

Cool man. I was only having a go at it for the craic. There is an awful lot of furries and wierd sonic fan fiction shit on it though. I mean, free country and all. Do you think that the furries made everyone want to leave and go to other sites or something?

Probably 😂 I haven't visited that website in a long while. It got weird. It seems all communities get weird given a long enough time frame. Hopefully Nostr is different 😂
