A sobering thought and maybe a question to those who know more:

For a scalable layer 2 on Bitcoin not to be co-opted by centralized entities (in the long run), does it have to replicate the almost impossible standards of censhorship resistance found on layer 1?

Dude, Jack is going to drop a phone with a node on it. Every doofus will be able to run their own butcoin and lightning nodes easy peasy. We are going to beat centralization.
