Love the introspection on your upbringing and life after leaving the house. Sounds like you had a great father. I too had many of the same experiences. I think that generation was all about providing and disciplining men. But a TRUE man can say I love you because words are powerful and have a deep meaning. Love you brother! Lol

Thanks refsaint. I agree in that I think it's a generational trait.

My pops made sense to me and I began to understand him AFTER I moved out of the house and become a part of the world as a man.

I'm really looking forward to picking his brain about his 50th year and as a father/grandfather etc.

Past years have been relatively insignificant. Hamster wheel, rat race, raising a child. Life has been too busy and fast paced to have these introspections.
