#Nostr. We need to have a serious conversation about follow lists.

People I follow keep dropping somehow.

When do you notice it happen?

It’s random.

It’s definitely related to clients not finding the latest and greatest follow list, then publishing an old one.

Perhaps # of follows should be confirmed with each posting of an updated follow list.

Or maybe clients with local storage should notify on big unexpected changes.

Not a bad verification step.

I think Nostur has something like this.

Happens every time I update my relay list.

Good catch... I have been updating my relay lists a lot lately. But There are 2 relays that I am always connected to, Damus and Primal.

This is why I switched to topical lists and only use kind 3 as a short term queue of npubs to sort to them

Teach me!

Using LISTR.LOL, NOSTRUDEL.NINJA, or Gossip, create new follow sets (kind 30000).

Each list is managed independently, has a unique identifier, name and wont easily be wiped out by Primal.

In addition to the aforementioned clients, Amethyst also supports filtering your feed by these predefined lists. Having fewer people in a topical list makes for more signal vs a single follow list which tends to look more like global over time or be dominated by the same accounts

will try this. thank you!

I believe coracle.social also supports filtering feeds by predefined lists, does it not?

it does but its a bit clunky. more like dev style setting up filters manually to view. wish it let me save them for quick access

i also think coracle may be the only/first client supporting unions of lists based on the filter config

First and only. Hopefully other devs add support eventually

You can save the lists then base a feed iff the list for quick access. More stepa but also more composable
