It’s always embarrassing when Roman Catholics say this, not knowing that Luther’s opponents in the Roman Catholic church, such as Cardinal Cajetan and Johann Eck, also denied the deuterocanon and the epistle of James.

No one on either side believed these books were the same until after Luther died. Rome changed it. It really is that simple.

I will tell you what I tell every Papists who lacks even an entry level understanding of their own history: Just don’t. No one is making you talk about something you have no expertise in. It is entirely within your ability to not look like an idiot. Just don’t.

😅 well im no Papist, and regarding the Leipzig Debate, it was a division point between the two when Luther publicly rejected maccabees. Im open to being corrected, im not so proud to believe i understand the historical context perfectly.
