Is anyone using Keet? SimpleX is more private?
Discussion
SimpleX > Keet
This is true for privacy, but I put these things in different categories right now. Keet is the best (as soon as the source is released) you're going to get for peer-to-peer video chat & the file sharing is great too, it just needs better UI/UX.
Sending a keet invite link over SimpleX (with a new keet room for each session) seems even better.
“…best you’re going to get for p2p video…” in what terms? Quality, reliability, etc?
Video quality at a minimum.
Reliability by the fact that at least in theory at this point (until the code is out,) it's a direct p2p connection, no servers or non-user relays. The only limit I've run into playing with it is individual user upload/download speeds.
I've done one serious long Keet video call before and yes it was very impressive in terms of quality.
I like the future direction of SimpleX though in terms of privacy, messaging/comms.
Simplex is WAY more private.
Keet reveals your IP to each contact, so use it at least with a VPN.
1. Is that inevitable because it’s p2p or can it possibly be fixed?
2. What if you know your contact and don’t care that they know your IP, say family? Or is the threat that your IP is captured by a 3rd party on their end?
