General question, those that use salves, is there a reason why you would choose one made with beef tallow vs coconut oil for any reason? #grownostr

I hear beef tallow is what Ponce de Leon was looking for

I like the texture of animal fat salves over olive oil/ coconut oil salves. My hands feel great after I render lard.

Beef tallow is more natural. That said I haven’t used a salve made of that. It might be seriously stinky - no clue

You definitely have to purify it to take down the smell

I think either would work. I do make a body cream made of mostly organic leaf lard (w/ a small amount of jojoba, sea buckthorn oil, borage oil, and some essential oils), and it is luxurious. I think beef tallow is harder, especially when cold, so it might be harder to spread. You could combine the two.

I make both versions but besides having the tallow be local and the coconut oil not, I couldn’t find many reasons why it’s better except personal preference. I did finally find that it’s similar to human fat so can be absorbed into the skin better.

Check out this company called Toups &Co Organics!! All their stuff is made from tallow. I LOVE their face balms! I'm sure on their website they'll mention the benefits of tallow. My first thought is that it would have more nutrients than coconut oil. Ask a carnivore friend, I bet they'll know 😉 I just love the texture more. ❤️

I think lard would be better but at least tallow comes from something with a face. Let plants regenerate plants, let everything else regenerate us.
