Where does one see these badges anyways?

If your client supports the NIP you should see them on your profile, in feeds and in your notifications. To claim or create badges you'd go to https://badges.page/ (don't think any client supports claiming yet).

I don't know about Damus sorry, no iPhone. I mostly use noStrudel on the dekstop and Amethyst on my phone. Though Amethyst mostly displays a placeholder image for badges for me when viewing profiles
