and literally no one even mentioned the fact that there was a 6 year age gap. Not my friends. Not my family. No one was bothered.
It was totally fine.
This extreme absurd taboo is brand new.
In the 1980s, when I was 16, I dated a 25-year-old woman, and it went largely unnoticed. Similarly, in the 1990s, when I was 23, my girlfriend was 16, and again, there was little concern. Society has undergone significant changes since then, but it is clear these changes have not been entirely positive.
