- Public relays.

- Relays you control and allow public access to.

👎 No!

- Private relays.

ℹī¸ Pick 3 for each. Any more is just a waste of bandwidth for you and everyone trying to read your notes.

A somewhat recent Amethyst update has it connecting to over 700 relays by default. It seems pretty slow.

What are your thoughts on this?

It works fine for me, better than ever actually. The main thing I've noticed is I never see "note not found on relays" anymore.

The number of relays is relative to your follows, as it's connecting to other people's outbox and inbox relays to send & receive notes. Mine usually connects to about 300/700, where 300 is the number connected out of a possible 700.
