Russia's Basmanny District Court has sentenced Oscar-nominated film producer Alexander Rodnyansky to 8.5 years in absentia for allegedly spreading "fake" information about the Russian army. The court found him guilty of knowingly disseminating false information about the Russian armed forces. Rodnyansky, a former resident of Russia and Ukraine, had been vocal on social media against the country's military actions in Ukraine since 2022.
